Life Lesson

What to do to be HAPPY

http://www.qwiki.com/v/RRIBVltG

This is my lame attempt at making a video, because I felt that would be easier to get my point across.  And who doesn't love pictures and music?

Here are a few things included in my video that I think everyone should do at some point in their life (it's not everything of course, my video could only be so long).  And these things won't work for everyone.

Do something you love: Often times people forget to do what they love because they're so caught up in everything else.  It doesn't have to be what everyone else loves, it's your life, do what you love!  I love many things, I just happened to pick cheerleading for this portion, because that is without a doubt something I love.
Watch the sun set and rise: Such a simple but awesome thing.  It brings me so much peace and happiness just to take 10-15 minutes as much as possible and see the gorgeous colors in the sky for a few minutes, and then watch them disappear like they were never there.
Enjoy the scenery: There are so many awesome places to just sit and think.  I love the little things such as the trees changing colors and watching the waves.
Be with family: I love spending time with my family.  They do get on my nerves quite often, but they all make me so happy and it's important to remember who actually cares for you.  Most family members will always be there for you no matter what. Love also comes with being with family.
Make canned goods: What an odd thing to put in a video about being happy, right?  Haha, yes I know it's very weird.  I love to make canned things with my mom.  It's so awesome to take an apple and turn it into applesauce.  I love seeing the transformation and know what's going into the food I eat.  (In the video there's applesauce, 3 bean salad, beets, and apple butter)
Do a color run: Do it.  That's really all I have to say.  It's one of the most awesome things ever.  You don't have to be some spectacular athlete, because it's not a race!  You can even walk it if you so choose.  When I did it last summer it made me so happy, I'm doing it again in March :) P.S., notice how in the short video clip of the color run everyone has on a temporary tattoo that says "happy".  That was definitely one of my favorite things about it.
Enjoy Christmas: I don't know, I guess since Christmas is coming up I feel that it should be included.  I wanted to add more to the caption on the video, but I could only put so much.  So in particular, enjoy Christmas at Disneyland.  Yes, I'm a little kid at heart.  I've gone to Disneyland at Christmas a few times, and it is so amazing.  Everyone's so happy!

What do these 7 things in my video have in common?  Enjoy the little things in life.  Often we're so caught up in this idea that we have to do these big spectacular things to either have fun, be noticed, or even make a living.  That's not true though.  For me personally, the little things I do bring me more happiness in life than doing anything big.

A few more things to be happy:  Smile, be positive, be encouraging, be thankful, love, and help others.

I took all of these pictures.  Most of them are from where I'm from.

I'll leave you with a few more photos:

Work and Happiness

Reach For The Stars!
Can we really be happy at work?  Well, if we're talking from a personal view, I cannot answer that, considering I have never had an official job.  I do believe that someone can be very happy at work if they do what they love.  Not everyone has that opportunity though.  For example, we may get tired of chasing our dream if we don't end up seeing any results, and if we need a job to pay the bills then we have to settle.  The key is not to settle though.  If in the long run it makes you happy, then why not continue chasing your dream?  I believe that everyone should find their passion and what they really love and go for it and don't stop.  You can't listen to what other people tell you about your dream.  It's your dream for a reason.

Unit 3: Advertising

Advertisements: the Reality
Advertisements are almost always very creative.  They make you think and question what they're really about.  But they're a trap!  Advertisements are changing our behavior and making it into an awful thing.  We are influenced to buy certain things just because an advertisement says to.  Advertisements use repetition and individualism to persuade us, and those are just two of many ways.  We need to stop relying on the false images advertisements are providing for us.  Although advertisers can't alter the facts, they can most definitely alter the pictures they choose.  Everything they use for the pictures are real, they just make them look a bit more appealing for advertisements than they do in real life.

5 Photo Essay

Success in 5 Pictures

Success can't really be defined in 5 pictures.  Or can it?  To me, it's not fully defined, but pictures definitely capture a snapshot of a successful moment.  Success is different for everyone, and if someone was to have the same success pictures as me, that would be a bit weird.  So long story short, here are 5 (I could probably pick about 20) pictures that show a small glimpse of success to me.
The Color Run
The Color Run is one of the most amazing things I've done.
I have heard SO many people say that that's one thing they want to do before they die.
And what's even better, is I did it with my best friends.
This shows success to me because it's something I've always wanted to do, and I did it.

Swimming With Dolphins In Miami
Wow, where to begin.
I've always wanted to swim with dolphins.
When we went to Florida last Christmas, my dream came true.
I would say that swimming with dolphins is a definite success story, because I accomplished something I've always wanted to do.

Roller Skating
Hahaha, I can't help but laugh when I think about this night.
This is me with some of my friends.
I thought it would be a good idea to join them and about 30 other people from my school for roller skating.
Nope, it was an awful idea.
I fell nearly every time I attempted to move my feet.
Yet, I still consider this a success story.
I thought in my head that I have no idea how to roller skate.
And I didn't.
I didn't let that stop me though.
I kept trying and kept going out there and doing it.
I did fail miserably, but I still tried it, and to me that makes me successful.
I was seriously sore for the next few days though.

 Graduation
Top left: me and one of my best friends. Top right: two of the most amazing people in my life. Bottom left: walking out of the graduation hall extremely happy.  Bottom left: my graduating class, all 34 of us :)
 I did it!
I graduated high school.
For me, I didn't really struggle through high school.
I went to class almost every day, and got almost all A's.
But the fact that I actually walked down that aisle when a lot of people don't get to, that makes me successful.

 One Man
Last but definitely not least.
This is probably my favorite picture that defines success for me.
Save the best for last, right?
This is me and my best friend doing a one man.
There are so many aspects to this picture.
Strength, success, power, friendship, trust...
It is not easy to hold someone up there for about 5 minutes while the photographer takes his time.
Many people think this is photoshopped, and if you do, then you're 100% wrong.
Yay for being successful with my best friend :)

Poetry Post

Cool Winter Morning
The trees stand tall.
While dancing in the wind, they hope not to fall.
The black fences are now white,
And they begin to fright.
That winter may not end,
But they think spring is right around the bend.

The frost frantically falls to the freezing ground.
All is quiet on the farm, we don't hear a sound.
The air is as cool as a popsicle,
There hangs an icicle.
Now comes the sun,
And we hope to have some fun.

The Giver "5 Looks"

A Book In 5 Key Words:
Trapped: Everyone in The Giver is trapped inside this world that they view as perfect, but is actually far from it.
Clones: The characters are not literally clones of each other, but pretty close considering how they grow up.
Orderly: Everything that takes place is in order from when the children get their bike to the ceremony of going to the next age.
Plain: Everything they see is in black and white; except for the Giver, and eventually Jonas
Smooth: There appears to be no conflict whatsoever.  People don't speak in a rude way, and there's really no arguments.

Unit 2 Discussion

Sharing Our Life Through The Internet:
Is it really necessary to post every aspect of our life on Facebook?  What about on Instagram and Twitter?  Do  people really care about what we did last night or what Starbucks drink we're having at the moment?  Probably not because I know I don't.  Yet knowing that doesn't seem to stop people.  We all have a tendency to broadcast what we're doing.  What's the real reason though?  For a lot of us, it may be to "fit in" or to act "cool."  But honestly, who knows anymore.  The person posting their personal or non personal things may not even know the real reason anymore.
